MCD election result LIVE: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in all three municipal corporations – North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation and East Delhi Municipal Corporation in the national capital. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress are in the race for the second spot in the three civic bodies. Other parties which contested the election include Swaraj India, the political arm of Swaraj Abhiyan – co-founded by activists Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, BSP, SP.

Currently, BJP is leading in 188 seats, AAP is ahead in 43, Congress is leading in 28 seats while the other parties are set to grab around 10 seats.

While the Congress party welcomed the mandate, the Aam Aadmi party blamed Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the party’s dismal performance and the BJP’s good show in the MCD polls. “This is not a Modi wave, but an EVM wave,” Delhi Labour Minister and senior AAP leader Gopal Rai said.
